Full Summer – Junior Competitive Program
Long Island Rowing offers elite junior rowers intensive training programs that will enable them to continue spring conditioning throughout the summer into the fall racing season. This program is only for experienced, motivated, hard working individuals.
Members from ALL high school teams are welcome.
Summer Junior Competitive Program involves on-water training Monday through Friday from 7:30 am-9:30am (starting June 24, 2024) followed by indoor (or dry land) practice from 10:30am to 1:00pm (breakfast break from 9:30-10:30am)
Pre-season practice for those that are registered (or confirm with coach) is from 4:00pm. - 7:00pm Monday thru Friday starting June 12.
Our Summer Regatta Schedule will be posted under the Summer Regatta tab in this website (At this time we are contemplating attending regattas such as Rowfest National Championship in Oklahoma from July 13-20, Sweeps & Sculls Regatta July 27 in Rhode Island, the Royal Canadian Henley from July 28-August 4 and/or other regattas as well as local scrimmages TBD & subject to scheduling, protocols, rules and regulations).

Training Routines
Cardio/cross training and weight workouts (rowing in small boats, circuit training, cardio training, plus ERG training and testing)
Long rows – focusing on technique and heart rate-monitored workouts
Mandatory Requirements to Participate:
Heart rate monitor
Bill-of-Health from your doctor (Executed at time of registration)
Consistent attendance MANDATORY. You cannot attend one week and the take off the next week and start again and expect to compete at a high level.
We do not require a specific ERG score to qualify for this program. Attendees will train in ALL size boats (1x, 2x, 2-, 4x, etc…).
*For athletes participating in regattas boat seating is the COACH’S decision only. (No regattas currently scheduled).
*Minimum experience 1 year of rowing (exceptions are possible for talented athletes).
* Additional racing fee required to cover any and all regatta expenses (travel, race site fees, boat transport, lodging, meals/snacks, etc...)
Program Dates: June 24 (pre-season starts June 12) – August 9
Program Fee: $1,250.00 (Regatta and/or scrimmage fees are not included in the Program Fee)
Additional racing/regatta fees determined based upon particpation and costs to attend).
